Digital service providers (DSP’s) are providers of cloud services, online search engines or online marketplaces. Many private individuals and companies use these digital services, or are dependent on them. The networks and information systems that are necessary to provide these digital services need to be reliable and secure. Unsure whether you are a digital service provider? The definitions of a digital service provider are as follows:
Online marketplace
An online marketplace is a website where private individuals or businesses can conclude sales or service agreements with other businesses. Your organizations matches this criteria if:
- Your platform or website facilitates sales between buyer and seller. To facilitate this, the platform makes use of IT services, such as processing payments on this platform.
- The purchase is conducted on the website of the marketplace or on the website of the selling business.
- There are three parties involved in concluding the agreement: the buyer, seller and the marketplace.
Online search engine
An online search engine is a digital service that allows users to perform search queries on all websites. If your website offers a search function to search for information that functions only on your own website, your organization is not an online search engine as meant here.
Cloud service provider
Cloud service providers supply scalable elastic digital services that are accessible everywhere and at all times. Most cloud services can be placed in one of these categories:
- Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Platform as a Service (PaaS)
- Software as a Service (SaaS)
